I hope she strips Donald of everything he has for infringement. @taylorswift13 @taylornation13 GET HIM!” one person tweeted in response to the campaign’s post about the shirt. “im excited for trumps new era, i heard it’s called the ‘lawsuit era,’” another responded. “This deserves a cease and desist!” yet another Swiftie tweeted, tagging the pop superstar, official fan page as well as her publicist.
This move, like Trump’s, is a calculated attempt to tap into the cultural phenomenon and leverage it for political gain. The use of pop culture references in political campaigns is not new. It’s a tactic that has been employed by politicians for decades, often with varying degrees of success.
