As part of efforts to put Northern Nigeria on the Information Technology (IT) map and help the region compete with other states, Ihifix Digital Academy, a pioneering STEM school in Kaduna, has graduated kids between the age of five to 17 in key digital skills from its 2024 summer bootcamp. The bootcamp, which ran from August 6 to September 6, provided hands-on training in coding, UI/UX design, data analysis, and basic computer literacy to 40 kids across the state. The initiative is part of the academy’s broader mission to equip Northern Nigeria’s youth with the skills necessary for the digital economy, ensuring they are prepared for a tech-driven future.

The program was designed to address the technology gap in Northern Nigeria by providing early tech education. The students also engaged in practical, project-based learning that aimed to enhance their problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaborative skills. The bootcamp concluded with a graduation ceremony on September 7, where participants were recognized for their achievements. Emmanuel Odeh Adikpe, the Academy’s proprietor, emphasised the importance of introducing digital skills to children at a young age, saying, “by starting at such an early age, we’re equipping these children with a significant advantage in the digital economy. Our aim is to lay a strong foundation for the next generation of tech innovators.”
