HIGUERA: I was inspired by a lot of different things. I think the most important thing was to create a world that felt both familiar and strange. I wanted to draw on the characters and environments from classic sci-fi, but also to incorporate elements of other genres, like fantasy and horror. This is reflected in the art style, which is a blend of realism and stylized elements.
This is a piece of art that speaks to me. It’s not just about the subject matter, but the way it’s presented. The way the artist has used texture, color, and composition to create a sense of depth and movement. It’s a piece of art that speaks to me on a personal level.
We’re both big fans of classic sci-fi and fantasy, so we draw inspiration from those genres. We also look at real-world cultures and societies for inspiration. We’re constantly exploring new ideas and pushing boundaries. HIGUERA: The book also includes a glossary of terms and a section on the worldbuilding. What are some of the the key elements of worldbuilding that you’ve focused on in this book? NGUYEN: We’ve focused on creating a sense of wonder and mystery.
Nguyen’s work on the comic book series “Descender” was a pivotal moment in his career. He felt that each script he wrote for the series pushed him to grow as a writer and artist. He credits the series with being a significant turning point in his career, highlighting the importance of creative freedom and the ability to explore new ideas.
I think that’s the most important thing. HIGUERA: What are some of the most challenging aspects of working on a project like Descender? NGUYEN: The most challenging aspect of Descender is probably the sheer scale of the project. It’s a massive undertaking, and it’s a lot of work to keep everything organized and on track. It’s also a lot of work to make sure that the story is consistent and engaging.
